Peter Jones Why do I love this album? The organ on Old Fangs. The blast the album opens with in The Hair Song. Such wonderous throwback sounds to the era of creative hard rock. New yet capturing the soul of the heritage on which it draws and living it for real.

FreshHumanFan I'd really like to set Buried By The Blues as my favorite track but Bandcamp only lets me pick between The Hair Song and Old Fangs. Someone made a video for the song on youtube with people crossing a cross-walk somewhere in Israel which fits the calm mood of the song.

Levrikon Wilderness Heart is Black Mountain's 'Led Zeppelin III' - more acoustic with a stronger melodic structure. That doesn't mean they can't rock out when they need to, though. In fact, the title track might be one of their most speaker-melting songs yet. Favorite track: Wilderness Heart

Viewer Distortion Advised A folk/rock band that defies definition, virtuoso playing throughout. Female singer is one of the best around, great albums, live they are a little stiff...

Mykhailo My favorite Black Mountain's album.
Awesome psychedelic-rock record with great tunes and beautiful male+female vocals. Favorite track: Old Fangs.

Deidre House This one has a slightly different flavor than the past 2 releases that I find difficult to pin down. Overall I guess it's taken in a bit more of a folk/pop direction, though the rockin' tracks rock harder than ever (it would be hard to argue that "Let Spirits Ride" isn't metal). A solid addition to Black Mountain's catalog. Favorite track: Old Fangs.

about

'Wilderness Heart', the new album by Black Mountain, is packed with succinct rock songs that pulse and pound with startling precision: it pummels you and you ask for more. This is arguably the band’s tightest, most concentrated venture, but there’s still plenty of raw rock energy at work. “It’s our most metal and most folk oriented record so far,” songwriter Stephen McBean says. “I’m not gonna say it’s our best record or the album that we always dreamt of making ‘cause that’s what everyone says. It’s all about where we were at the time the machines were rolling. You can’t control the electricity or how your limbs were moving that day. You have to erase the visions and just go along for the ride.”

about

Black Mountain Vancouver, British Columbia

The rock canon has many anti-heroes, Black Mountain being the latest. In the past, Can’s 'Tago Mago' established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules. Delinquent proto-metallers Black Sabbath demonstrated that you can make a lot from not that much. Now Black Mountain teach us that you don’t have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future. ... more
